Penn Psychedelics Collaborative hosts ‘Psychedelics & a Road to Recovery’, film screening and panel discussion on ESPN documentary highlighting the potential benefits of psychedelic-assisted therapy for traumatic brain injury and mental health disorders.
The documentary explores the experiences of former NFL and NHL players who have sufferedfrom traumatic brain injury and mental health disorders, that have turned to psychedelic-assisted therapy, specifically with psilocybin, in hopes to improve their mental and physical wellbeing. The film examines the promising results of psychedelic-assisted therapy and its potential as a viable treatment for these debilitating conditions.
Following the screening of the documentary, the PPC will host a panel discussion with experts in the fields of neurology, psychedelic therapy, and policy. The panelists will discuss the potential benefits of psychedelics in treating traumatic brain injury, pathology and recovery in humans, drug development and treatment strategies, the current state of research & regulatory policy, and ethical considerations of using psychedelics in a therapeutic settings.
The event is open to the public and will take place on April 23, 2023, at the University of Pennsylvania’s Clinical Research Building auditorium. Doors open at 2:00 pm and the event begins promptly at 2:30 pm.
